Abigail Breslin BiographyAbigail Kathleen Breslin, the notorious scene-stealer from 2006’s smash hit Little Miss Sunshine, was born in New York City on September 16th, 1996. At the tender age of 10 years old, she became the fourth youngest actress to ever be nominated for an academy award. Abigail Breslin has spent most of her life on screen, at times, along side her older brother, Spencer Breslin. The talented actress has consistently garnered praise from critics and fellow actors alike. “Little Miss Sunshine” co-stars Alan Arkin and Greg Kinnear have both remarked on the seriousness and dedication with which she approaches her acting. When she is not high tailing it around L.A., Abigail (Abby, to her family) is at home in the East Village of New York City with mom Kim Breslin, dad Mike Breslin (a telecommunications consultant) and big brothers Ryan (a junior at American University in Washington D.C.) and Spencer, along with two dogs and one cat. In a recent interview, Abigail talked about what she likes to do best around her hometown; she says, “in my neighborhood, I really like to go to Russo’s - they make really good mozzarella - and to Veniero’s, the bakery. Or to the playground. Just hang out.” Her best friends are her cousins, Casey and Ashley, and one of her very favorite films is “Finding Nemo”. She confides that if she could have super powers, she would choose to be able to fly, and speak every language! Abigail Breslin’s mom has been a big influence in her young daughter’s life. She has been her manager since Abigail’s very first commercial shoot for Toys ‘R Us. Even today, Kim Breslin is most often seen at her daughter’s side. While Abigail was posing for photos with the rest of the cast of Little Miss Sunshine at the American Film Institute’s awards ceremony, her mother was in the background holding her daughter’s Curious George stuffed animal! Abigail Breslin has been confronted with a lot of questions lately concerning the future of her acting career. “I don’t know!” the ten-year-old exclaims, “I don’t have a career until after college, my mom said”. But, she adds that if the acting doesn’t work out in the end, then she thinks she will settle for veterinarian school. In The News
