December 2nd, 1981 - Britney Jean Spears is born in Kentwood, Louisiana, USA.

1992 - Competes on Star Search.

Debutes on the Mickey Mouse Club.

November 1998 - Releases her first album entitled …Baby One More Time.

April 1999 - Britney is on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Wins all four awards for which she is nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin.

January 2000 - Wins favorite new artist at the American Music Awards.

April 2000 - Releases her first single from second album Oops I Did it Again.

Britney wins a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Female Singer.

May 2000 - Britney goes on her first world tour.

Britney and her mom's co-written book entitled Britney Spears' Heart to Heart comes out in book stores across the United States.

At the World Music Awards, Britney walks away with Best Selling Female Artist.

June 2000 - Oops…I Did it Again sells 1.3 million copies in its first week setting it as the biggest first week sales by a female artist.

August 2000 - Britney wins 2 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Female Artist and Female Hottie of the Year.

January 2001 - Britney co-headlines at the Rock in Rio Festival in Brazil where she performs to over 250,000 fans.

Appears with Aerosmith and NSYNC at Superbowl 35 in the half time show.

Co-hosts and performs at the 2001 American Music Awards.

February 2001 - Britney strikes a multi-million dollar deal with Pepsi-Cola for sponsorship and advertising.

April 2001 - Wins a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Female Artist

August 2001 - Wins a Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Artist.

November 2001 - Begins her North American Tour 'Dream Within a Dream' after the release of her third LP entitled Britney.

HBO presents Britney Spears Live From the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

December 2001 - Wins Top Music Video of the year for Time Out With Britney Spears.

February 2002 - Crossroads opens up making over $12 million in its first week.

March 2002 - Britney and Justin Timberlake break up.

Her parents divorce.

June 2002 - Britney is named the 'world's most powerful celebrity' by Forbes magazine.

Signs with NASCAR to star in a feature film about auto racing.

July 2002 - Britney makes a cameo appearance in Goldmember and contributes to the track as well.

August 2002 - Wins a Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Artist.

September 2002 - Britney ranks in eighth position on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.

November 2002 - Britney is honored with the Children's Choice Award for her charitable efforts that contributed to a performing arts camp for sick and disadvantaged children.

She is honored for the money she raised during her tour for the children of 9/11.

Book and DVD set "Stages" is released.

September 2004 - Married Kevin Federline

September 2005 - Birth of first son Sean Preston on September 14, 2005.

September 2006 - Birth of second son Jayden James on September 12, 2006.

February 2007 - Checked into a treatment facility in the Bahamas after shaving her head and getting two pieces of body art. Britney Spears checked out of treatment the next day.

July 2007 - Divorced from Kevin Federline.

October 2007

  • Oct 1: Ordered by the court to surrender custody of her children, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
  • Oct 3: A Los Angeles court commissioner grants Spears some visitation rights with the children.
  • Oct. 16: Booked on charges of hit-and-run and driving without a license.
  • Oct. 17: Visitation taken away to see her two young children until she complies with a court order.
  • Oct. 25: Spears avoids a criminal hit-and-run trial by paying for damages in a fender-bender.
