Family Life

Britney has always been close to her family. She has an older brother Bryan and a little sister Jamie Lynne. Her parents have always been a great source of support when she has needed them and like many families they've had their share of troubles.

Financial Troubles
About a year before Britney's career took off her parents were filing for bankruptcy. They lost their property and their car to repossession and were facing hard times.

Britney blamed herself for her family's financial troubles. According to US Magazine Britney stated "It's all my fault. They shouldn't be spending so much money trying to make me famous." They had put every dime they had into Britney's dance and vocal training.

Success
When Baby One More Time hit the charts it was an instant hit. Her parents couldn't be prouder. When the money started rolling in Britney wasted no time in giving a little back to her parents. She bought them a four bedroom Turdor style home set in seven and a half acres in their hometown.

Parent's Divorce
After thirty years of marriage her parents divorced. Just like many other teens she had to deal with her family splitting apart. Britney knew that a divorce was probably the best thing for the both of them. In a Rolling Stone interview she stated that they just didn't get along at all. She said, "I love them both dearly, but I'm so happy that they're not together." They still keep a great partnership with each other for the children.

Mother and Daughter
Britney has always admired and looked up to her mother. In an interview with the New York Times Britney talked about the way her mother has always tried to guide her through her life and career. She says, "Always be true to yourself, do what you want to do, don't take any bull from anyone, and show them what you've got."

Family Relationships
Britney's little sister Jamie Lynn seems to be following in her big sister's footsteps. She wants to be just like Britney when she grows up. She can be seen on Nicolodeon joining the cast of "All That." Amanda Bynes from the movie Big Fat Liar as well as Nick Cannon started their careers on the same show.

Britney is very proud of her sister Jamie Lynn. She starred in her first role as the young Lucy in the movie Crossroads and had a cameo in Britney's time travelling Pepsi commercial.

Britney's brother Bryan has no desire to be in the spotlight. He is happy being a gym instructor who likes his privacy. He and his sister have a great relationship and often hang out whenever Britney's schedule permits.

Wife and Mother
Although her marriage to Kevin Federline ended in divorce on July 30, 2007 she has the support of her family and friends who continue to help her raise her sons Sean and Jayden.

Lynne Spears Tell All Book
Britney's mom, Lynne Spears has signed a deal to write a tell-all book about her life as a celebrity mother. While many believe Lynne has given up on her daughter she has not. A statement from Christian publisher Thomas Nelson insists the book "Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World," will focus purely on her skills as a mom. A spokesman for Thomas Nelson states; "It's a parenting book that's going to have faith elements to it. I don't think it's totally been written yet.... this is Lynne Spears' personal story of raising high-profile children while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community."

Britney Spears continues to be in the news – stories revolving around her personal life, as well as her public life, are popular topics. Since 2008, Britney has been under a conservatorship run by her father Jamie Spears. And although the young mother now appears to have her life in order, in the summer of 2010, the appointed judge ruled that the conservatorship would continue. Her father had mentioned that he would consider stepping aside as conservator once her world tour was over.

She designed a limited edition clothing line for Candie's, released in stores, July 2010.

She has regained joint custody of her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she had with her husband Kevin Federline. Today Britney keeps a relatively low profile and does not make many appearances other than on the red carpet for award shows.
