Brooke Shields BiographyA New York City native, Brooke Shields was born May 31st, 1965 to an American society family descended from Italian nobility. In only a few short months, Brooke, still an infant, had landed her first modeling job for Ivory Soap. Her parents Alexander and Teri Shields divorced when Brooke was young. By the tender age of 14, Brooke was already a well-known face in the modeling world, having been the youngest model to have appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine. In 1983 alone, Brooke graced the pages of Paris Vogue, American Vogue, as well as Italian Vogue. Brooke’s modeling career prevailed throughout the 1970s and the early 1980s. Brooke Shields also appeared on a nude cover shoot in Rolling Stone magazine in 1996.
In 1983, Brooke Shields took a break from the whirlwind life of acting and modeling to attend Princeton University. She graduated in 1987 with a degree in French Literature. After finishing her studies, Brooke wished to step back into the bustling world of show business, but her stature, a graceful 6’0”, sometimes acted as an obstacle, hindering her from receiving roles which called for a more petite actress. In 1996, Brooke took to the small screen in the comedic TV series ‘Suddenly Susan.’ Her performance for the sitcom, which ran from 1996 until 2000, once again endeared her to the public. The series subsequently led to two Golden Globe nominations and a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Performer in a Television Series. In 1997, Brooke Shields married professional tennis player Andre Agassi. The relationship ended in a devastating divorce two years later - Brooke had the marriage annulled. In 2001, she wed for the second time to Chris Henchy. They currently have two children, for which Brooke openly stated her use of fertility treatments. More recently, Brooke took to writing books, penning her story titled ‘Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression,’ a personal experience she endured after the birth of her daughter Rowan in 2003. Brooke currently takes on the persona of Wendy on ‘Lipstick Jungle’ created by Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell.
