The Music of Charlotte ChurchThe musical career of Charlotte Church started when she was very young, but was actually fully ignited when she received a record deal with Sony BMG in 1998. Under that label, Church released a number of classical albums that sold millions worldwide. Her very first album, “Voice of an Angel,” featured a collection of sacred songs and arias that made her the youngest artist ever to reach number 1 on the British classical crossover charts. Her self-titled second album, much like her first album, featured religious and traditional tracks, and was also very successful.
The year 2005 marked the beginning of Charlotte Church’s career in pop music. Her first pop album, “Tissues and Issues,” produced 4 singles that were somewhat successful in the UK - “Crazy Chick” reached number 2, “Call My Name” made number 10, “Even God Can’t Change the Past” hit number 17, and “Moodswings (to Come at Me like That)” attained number 14. Although the album was released in Australia as well, it did not obtain the same results on the charts as it did in the UK. In March 2006, it was announced that church would not be allowed to release her pop album in the US until it reached number 1 in the UK. In 2006, she and Sony BMG had decided to part ways. According to her publicist, the decision was mutual as there were rumors that Church had decided to take a break from her singing career in order to focus on her television show.
