Charlotte Church: Film and TV Appearances

Young soprano star Charlotte Church has made several film and television appearances during her career.

As a child, her many television appearances allowed Charlotte Church to showcase her remarkable talent to the entire world. Her appearances on “This Morning with Richard and Judy” in 1997 and “The Big, Big Talent Show” in 1998 definitely paved the way for her music career. In 1999, she was given a role on the popular television show “Touched by an Angel,” and also in the Christmas Special “Heartbeat.” In 2005, she was able to play herself in an episode of “The Catherine Tate Show.” In the same year, she earned the role of Dorothy Gale in “The Paul O'Grady Show Christmas Pantomime, The Wizard of Oz.” Church then appeared in a brief skit on “Katy Brands Big Ass Show” in 2008. She has also hosted her own television show “The Charlotte Church Show” from 2006 to 2008. In 2009, she is set to star in three episodes of the popular U.S sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” starring Neil Patrick Harris.

Charlotte Church made her silver screen debut in 2003 when she starred in a movie directed by Craig Ferguson entitled “I’ll Be There.” Church played the role of Olivia, the daughter of a washed-up 80s rock star, played by Craig Ferguson. She was able to demonstrate her vocal skills in this comedy, as the storyline revolves around a rock musician who discovers the talented daughter he never knew. Church was also considered for the role of Christine Daae in the 2004 film adaptation of “Phantom of the Opera,” but was unable to get the part because she declined to lose enough weight for the character role. Church also tried for the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, but at 14, she was too old for the part.
