Hollywood Child Stars
featuring Drew Barrymore

In the genes?
Drew Blythe Barrymore came into the world on February 22, 1975 (Pisces!) in LA. She was born into a world-renowned “showbiz” family; her grandfather is the famous actor John Barrymore. Both of her parents are actors as well.

Before she was even a year old, Drew was already starring in television commercials. In 1978, at the tender age of three, she graced the silver screen in her first movie, Suddenly Love. Thanks in part to her godfather Steven Spielberg, by the time she was five, Drew Barrymore was a household name. That was the year she appeared as the adorable Gertie in ET. At just seven years old, the lovely Drew was the youngest host ever for Saturday Night Live.

Unfortunately for Drew, the pressures of child stardom took their toll and by the time she was nine she had a drinking problem. Drew also began doing drugs soon after and entered rehab when she was only twelve years old. Her biography, Little Girl Lost, which she wrote with a co- author, was completed when Drew was fourteen years of age.

Hollywood’s Darling
Despite her substance abuse problems, Drew remained one of Hollywood’s most bankable actresses. She often portrayed troubled teenage characters such as Amy, in the Amy Fisher Story and Ivy, in Poison Ivy. Later on, she turned to comedic roles. She starred in Never Been Kissed, wherein she plays a reporter who goes back to high school undercover (a little Drew trivia: Drew never graduated from High School) and The Wedding Singer and most recently, Fifty Dates.

Drew now produces movies as well as acts in them. Both Charlie’s Angels movies were produced by her own company Flower Films. It’s safe to say that Drew is one child star that has grown up in the spotlight and still remains center stage!

In the News
Drew Barrymore and Justin Long who star in the film "He's Just Not That Into You" (2008) are rumoured to be an item. There were reports in September 2007 the two attended the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas making no attempt in hiding thier love affair. A source told US Magazine "They were making out all over the place. They were like kids in love." Since the love affair with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Morettini has ended (January 2007), she has been seen with Scrubs star Zach Braff and director Spike Jonze.
