Hilary Duff Music! Music!
One for the Money
Hilary Duff’s music career began
to manifest itself in early 2002 when she recorded
songs for ‘The Lizzie McGuire Show’
original soundtrack, and also lent her voice
to the Disneymania compilation singing The
Tiki Tiki Tiki Room. In the same year,
Hilary cut her first studio album titled Santa
Claus Lane. It was a collection of
Christmas songs that included duets and collaborations
with pop sensations Christina Milian and L’il
Romeo, and also Hilary’s big sister, Haylie
Duff. Songs from this album were used in The
Santa Clause 2 and Cheaper
by the Dozen. Hilary also recorded
several tracks, including the single Why
Not to be featured in ‘The Lizzie
McGuire Movie’.
Two
for the Show
Hilary Duff released her second studio
album Metamorphosis in 2003.
It went platinum and reached #1 on the Billboard
200 charts. It ended up selling more than 3.7
million copies and included her smash hit So
Yesterday, which became Hilary’s
first Top 40 hit. It was one of the biggest
selling albums in the US that year and the music
video was on heavy rotation on MTV. It was late
in 2003 when Hilary embarked on her first concert
tour, in which every show was jam-packed and
sold out. The talented songstress has already
received several awards for her music. She picked
up the Best New Artist award at the 2004 World
Music Awards and also the Best Female Artist
at the 2004 Kids Choice Awards.
Simply Hilary
Hilary’s third album titled
Hilary Duff was released in
2004 and revealed her blossoming into womanhood.
Such evocative song titles as Do You
Want Me? and Who’s That
Girl? were big hits and the album sold
over 1.5 million copies.
Woman On Top
Hilary’s 2005 album Most
Wanted included mostly her favorite
tracks from her previous albums, some remixes
and also some new, edgier tracks inspired by
Hilary’s pop-rock idols The Killers and
Muse. Hilary relished having more creative control
on this album, co-writing and co-producing many
tracks with her then-boyfriend Joel Madden and
his brother Benji Madden, both from the famed
pop-punk band Good Charlotte. The first single
from the album, Wake Up became
her highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100,
her highest peaking single in the US and was
the #1 video on MTV’s Total Request Live.
New Releases
Hilary Duff recorded some tracks for
her most recent film Material Girls,
covering Madonna’s smash hit Material
Girl with her sister Haylie.
Dignity
Hilary’s newest album Dignity, released
in April 2007 will get you on the dance floor
with its upbeat flavor and pop style lyrics
featured in Play With Fire
and With Love. Hilary slows
it down in tracks like No Work No Play
and Between You and Me.
