Leonardo DiCaprio BiographyBorn on November 11th 1974 in Los Angeles, California, Leonardo DiCaprio became one of the biggest names in Hollywood. His parents, George DiCaprio, an underground comic book artist, and Irmelin, a German immigrant, first met in College and decided to move to Los Angeles together. Irmelin, while pregnant, gave their son the name of Leonardo because she felt his first kick when she was observing a Leonardo Da Vinci painting in a museum in Italy.
The Career of a Superstar In 1993, Leonardo DiCaprio achieved his first Academy Award nomination for his role in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” co-starring Hollywood A-list actor Johnny Depp. DiCaprio went on to star in other successful films such as “The Basketball Diaries,” “Total Eclipse,” and “Romeo + Juliet.” In 1997, one movie took DiCaprio to an entirely new level of superstardom, and that film was “Titanic” directed by James Cameron.
