The Musical Styles of Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez is not only a talented actress who has appeared
in several films and Disney Channel programs, but she is also a remarkable
singer with outstanding vocal abilities.
Starting her career on Barney & Friends,
Selena had a lot of practice belting out the tunes along with her co-stars
and the big purple host. She also performed several songs in the films
and television programs in which she starred.
Kiss
and Tell (2009)
Claiming that the album has a pop-rock-techno flavour, Selena is hoping
that the lyrics she has selected, which deal mostly with life, heartache
and friendships, will help her fans to get to know her better. She has
also contributed lyrics to a track entitled Beautifully Disturbed
on this album.
Recordings
Selena Gomez recorded Everything is Not What it Seems and Make It Happen
for The Wizards of Waverly Place, and contributed a cover
of Cruella De Vil for the platinum DVD of 101
Dalmatians. The cover song was also featured on the Disneymania
6 album.
In 2008, Selena Gomez scored the chance to record Tell
Me Something I Don’t Know, New Classic and Bang a Drum
for the Another Cinderella Story, sequel to A
Cinderella Story featuring another Disney starlet, Hilary
Duff. She also recorded Fly to Your Heart for
the film Tinker Bell.
Selena works well with others, which led her to do a duet
with best friend Demi Lovato entitled One and The Same for Princess Protection
Program. Another duet called Whoa-oh with the band Forever the Sickest
Kids was produced.
The theme song for the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place
is performed by Selena Gomez.
A
Year Without Rain (2010)

Musical
Projects
As Selena Gomez’s favourite band is Paramore, she
enjoys singing covers of their songs in her spare time. Doing music videos
will not require a big effort from Selena because she has already appeared
in music videos for Tell Me Something I Don’t Know and Fly To Your
Heart, as well as Burnin’ Up for the Jonas
Brothers.
When the Sun Goes Down (2011)
Tracks such as "Who Says" and "Love You Like a Love Song"
helped the album soar to number 3 on the U.S Billboard 200. The fist week
the album debuted it sold over 78,000 copies which certified it Gold in
the United States. This album was an international success as it peaked
in the top 10 in Belgium, Canada, Italy, Norway, Taiwan and New Zealand.
